Library Media Center

Welcome to the media center page!  At PW Elementary School, we know that reading is an integral part to every child's learning and success.  We believe that it is very important to help each student find books that will help improve reading skills and foster a love of reading for life.

Our library aide will travel weekly to the classrooms of 3rd, 4th and 5th with carts of books for students to check out.  Grades BK-1 will visit the Library weekly to hear a story from a picture book and check out a book.  2nd grade will visit the Library weekly to hear a story from a chapter book and check out books.

We use the Accelerated Reader program for 1st - 5th grade as developmentally appropriate - students are encouraged to choose a book in his/her reading level and take a test over that book to gain points toward a goal in the classroom. Used correctly, with a reasonable amount of out-of-class reading, you should see a growth in your child's reading ability.

If you have any general questions about our library, please contact Erikka Hafner.  Specific questions about AR goals and reading levels should be directed to the classroom teachers.

Thank you and happy reading!
