PW Elementary Library Media Center

Welcome to the media center page!  At PW Elementary School, we know that reading is an integral part to every child's learning and success.  We believe that it is very important to help each student find books that will help improve reading skills and foster a love of reading for life.

Due to the pandemic, rather than having students visit the library for books, our library aide travels to each classroom with carts of books for students to choose from. We are all looking forward to the day when we can gather again in our beautiful library and be close together again.

Our normal routine follows: classes come to library once a week; grades BK-1 hear a story from a picture book, while students in grades 2-5 have a chapter book read to them.  Then each student checks out a book to read.

We use the Accelerated Reader program here - students are encouraged to choose a book in his/her reading level and take a test over that book to gain points toward a goal in the classroom. Used correctly, with a reasonable amount of out-of-class reading, you should see a growth in your child's reading ability.

If you have any general questions about our library, please contact Erikka Hafner at  Specific questions about goals and reading levels should be directed to the classroom teachers.

Thank you and happy reading!
