Thank you for your interest in Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools!
The Schools of Choice program provides an opportunity for students who live outside of the district to apply to attend Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools. The application process and all related regulations are established by the Michigan Department of Education.

Application Period
The limited Schools of Choice application period for the 2026–27 school year will open on Wednesday, April 22 and close on Thursday, May 21 at 4:00 p.m.
Applications must be submitted within this timeframe to be considered.
Who Can Apply?
Students who live outside Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools may be eligible to apply. This includes students from other school districts in Clinton County, as well as students from neighboring (adjacent) intermediate school districts.
What is the Process?
Out-of-district students must submit a Schools of Choice application during the designated application period. All applications will be reviewed following the close of the application window.

The number of available Schools of Choice openings for the 2026–27 school year is as follows:

- 6th Grade: 4
- 7th Grade: 10
- 8th Grade: 4
- 9th Grade: 4

- 11th Grade: 0
- 12th Grade: 0
Applicants who reside with a student who attended P-W Schools as a Schools of Choice student during the 2025–26 school year will be given enrollment preference. Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools will also maintain a waitlist for applicants who are not initially accepted.
When will we find out if our out-of-district student can attend?
Families will be notified of their application status after the Schools of Choice application period has closed.
Where do I begin?
Schools of Choice applications will be available on this webpage beginning on the first day of the application period. You may also request that an application be mailed to you by calling the district at 989-587-5100 extension 5108.
Applications will only be accepted between April 22, 2026, and May 21, 2026. All applications must be received by 4:00 p.m. on May 21, 2026.
What information is needed to complete the application?
The application requires basic student and family information, including:
- Student name, address, and date of birth
- Entering grade level
- School district of residence
- School last attended
- Parent/guardian contact information
- Disciplinary history
- Any special education services currently being received
- Parent/guardian signature
Who provides transportation?
Families of Schools of Choice students are responsible for providing transportation to and from school.
Do we need to reapply every year?
No. Once a student is accepted and enrolled through Schools of Choice, they may continue attending Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools as long as they remain continuously enrolled.
