PWMHS Principal
Pirate Nation... Shipmates! It is an honor to serve as the Principal of Pewamo-Westphalia Middle-High School and, no different than what we ask of our students and staff on a daily basis, I too strive to apply my Personal Best each and every day.
With over 20 years of teaching, coaching, operational, and administrative experience within the field of education, I have dedicated my career to fostering academic excellence, supporting students' growth, and cultivating positive relationships among all whom I serve. In short, I truly value the opportunity to all facets of the "three-legged stool" (students, staff, families) together to foster the best possible product of education. My work and service within education has taken me to unique and amazing places - including China! Although I hold a Bachelor's degree from Albion College (2005) and a Master's degree from Michigan State University (2009), I continue to pursue educational opportunities - be it through state association opportunities or elsewhere. Recently, I completed the Michigan Leadership Institute's (MLI) Superintendent Academy (2024) and am close to earning "Business Manager" certification via the Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) organization. That said, there is little (professionally speaking) that gives me more joy than teaching in the classroom, leading a Pirates on the Move field trip, or working one-on-one with a student on a matter in my office.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife (Sarah) and daughters (Aubrey, Ellie, and Sophie Shae), working on projects around our property, and planning our next family adventure. I also enjoy playing the piano, hunting, and writing.
At PWMHS, one will find a very high standard for academic, social, and extracurricular excellence. However, they will also find that this is a place where all stakeholders can be successful - as everyone has the opportunity to reach their Personal Best and receive the most out of their scholastic experience. Always keep in mind that our Champions’ Culture and overall school atmosphere is a direct reflection of the attitude, work ethic, character, and true ownership of our students, staff, parents, and school community. We need to work together to pursue our true Personal Best - keeping our building prideful, efforts positive, and goals progressive... always moving toward improvement.
Let’s make the most out of our work and service together and have a champion year! #Onward! #RockTheShip #WeArePW
