What is TRIG?

TRIG stands for Technology Readiness Infrastructure Grant.  Using a Train the Trainer model, the entire elementary staff will be participating in Moodle Learning Modules to get teachers ready to integrate different kinds of technology into the everyday classroom instruction, to make learning and creating more meaningful and permanent for your students.  The grant will run for the entirety of the 2013-2014 school year, meaning the elementary staff will be working very hard on this project throughout the year.  This is an incredible opportunity, and one we're very excited about!

In the spring of 2013, the district applied for and was awarded a 22i TRIG grant from the state.  Shortly after, Sharon Brown, Jennifer Cross, and Stacey Johnston were chosen as Coaches for the grant.  They will be participating in five days of training during the school year and are responsible for leading the elementary teaching staff through the modules and helping them work the technology into classroom lessons.

As we head into spring 2014, the teaching staff continues to meet and work on the modules, learning about topics such as blended learning and how the online testing environment will affect your child.  The TRIG coaches had the opportunity to attend the MACUL conference (Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning) in Grand Rapids on March 13-14.  There were many great sessions to attend, including the use of Twitter and other social media sites in education, student blogging, QR codes and how they can be used in an educational setting, AppleTV in the classroom, and the new and exciting possibilities of 20 Time in the classroom.  As you can see from the picture, all of the TRIG coaches were easy to spot at the conference, and a great time was had by all!
